Microsoft works under the code name Windows 7 on the successor of Windows Vista since approximately August 2007.There is no official press release over the successor from Microsoft till now, the following information has to be judged therefore as rumours or not definite features of the future operating system.
- 64 bit and 32 bit version
- new Kernel is called "MinWin", introduced by Eric Traut (employee of Microsoft) in October 2007
- new graphic system
- improved language and handwriting recognition, useable over touch screen
- new user interface
- new program menues, basing on "Fluent" and ribbons known already from Office 2007
- with virtualization technologies
- Windows computers and network devices shall communicate wireless via new ways
